School is back, Scary First Days
There are points in a childs school life that can be scary, actually there are parts of school that can be scary. This year we saw a few of them. We will start off with the first day of College. Not to exciting but for most people the first day of college is kind of scary. I was no different, Algebra, all I could think of is my High school Algebra teacher yelling at me to take my hat off and getting sent to detention because I didn’t take it off. Hey back then I actually cared about my looks and I was having a bad Mullet day. So as I drove to class I realized I was wearing a hat and was thinking that the proffesor would start yelling at me for it. Silly, yes I know but that was going though my head.
Middle School, we have one daughter, Bert, that started middle school this year, I believe she was nervous but her excitement was over powering the fear of it. Plus she has a sister and cousin that are both in 8th grade so she feels a little protected there. She started the day at who knows what time but her mother woke up at 5am to make sure she would be ready on time for the bus. Bert was already in the shower and had her bags packed.
Now on to the first scary event of childs school fears, Kindegarten. Our 5 year old, Met, started Kindegarten yesterday and all summer she was excited to not only start going to school but was equally excited to ride the bus like her older sisters. Yesterday she woke up early had her french toast for Breakfast, got dressed by herself, threw her backpack on and grabbed her lunch box and sat by the door for a half hour before it was time to get down to the school bus. When it was finally time we walked down to the bus stop to meet the neighbor that she went to daycare with for the past 2 years, Grandma drove over to see her leave for her first day of school. Sure enough, the big yellow bus came and the smiling bus driver opened the door. Met immediatly turned looked up at me and started to cry. There was no getting her on the bus. Yes, softy dad put her in the car and drove her to school.
