Free Weekend
Since i have started my life in the Information technology world I believe every day I have at some point had my eyes glued to the computer. It is hard for me to stay away from computers since I have a server in one room and 5 workstations though out the house. I believe it is almost to the point I could probably hire a help desk person for my house. I can see my daughter now, “Dad, I can’t get my laptop to connect to the internet.”
Of course my response would be, “Call the Help desk.”
Since I am now a new property owner of a 100+ year old house and it was the first weekend where it was about 80 degree’s, I was able to stay off the computer all weekend.
Instead of waking up and checking my email I woke up and had my cup of coffee on the porch looking at the lake and listening to the woodpecker down the road.
Instead of reading other peoples blogs and surfing the web all day I got to clean the vacant apartment with the windows open. I was able to clean windows and rake leaves. Instead of a hot kitchen to cook in the grill was heated up while the ribs were sizzling.
This was a great weekend, I was able to finally enjoy the world around my own little property instead of play on the internet looking at the full world. I got to cook smore’s at night and didn’t even worry about writing up any technical security documents.
Every once in awhile it is great to let the larger world go do its own thing and sit on the porch with a glass of wine in my own little sanctuary.

Damn your house sounds like mine, minus the apartments. But yea it’s nice to relax some times and act like a normal person isn’t it?

I guess sitting on the porch after all the kids were in bed sipping on a glass of wine with a hot chick made the weekend one of the best…

It sounds better than sipping hot wine with a glass chick.

Well Thinker… I thought you would have come up with something about a rotisserie chicken… Or made some kind of crack about why not cook a full chicken and not just a chick. See I am leaving it open for you but I guess you are getting slower with the weight gain.

I don’t think of it as getting slower, I like to think of it as being more efficient at each place I pass.
