When I was growing up I played Soccer most of my life. Until 9th grade when I decided that being a soccer Goalie was not that fun anymore. My daughter is on her third year of Soccer and has finally realized the love and insanity for a sport that you must have to be a goalie. Yes she is as Crazy as I was when it came to jumping infront of anything… maybe next spring I can get her to try this: (Rarely is there a highlight video of Goalies)
It is Spring and since I am a Lacrosse player this is my time of year. I played Lacrosse up until I moved back from Europe two years ago. I have not found any league’s or pick up games that would be for an old guy like myself around here. So I figured I would List the League’s incase anyone wanted to check this great sport out.
First I want to Point out The MLL - Major League Lacrosse Schedule Games start in May. Probably the only Major League Sport that you can get tickets to for $15… or $170 for Season Tickets.
Next there is also the NLL - The National Lacrosse League This Schedule Started in December and runs into April. Again - $15
Unlike other sports College Lacrosse is actually more popular than the Pro Games. These games usually start in Feb. and goes in to May.
Yesterday’s March Madness really pissed me off but it did get me on to YouTube to look for some great video’s. Back in the day Hockey was big on Speed, Hits, and Fights. Growing up in the Northern part of the world, I grew up watching Hockey, I think everyone I knew was just there to see the fights that would happen. I have kept up with Hockey a little over the years and have noticed there are a lot less HUGE hits and a lot less fighting in Hockey. That was the draw of the game.
This is why I love Lacrosse, it has taken the lead in Hard Hitting Sports:
Okay, I used to play Basketball, I still do it every once in a while when I need to feel younger. Basketball = The sport for old people to feel young (until the next day)
I guess this thing call March Madness is going on right now, a time of the season where they wanted people to actually pay attention to the games so the Marketing people had to come up with something catchy. Lets call it March Madness.
Although more people watch Basketball more during March Madness the marketing people needed to come up with something else to get people to stop watching other things on TV and tune into people playing a little more sophisticated version of PIG. I am at a friends house right now and have the TV Guide up and decided to browse though the 500 chanels they have. Excitement flows though me as I see Channel 3 has College Lacrosse, the fastest game on two feet. I don’t get the opportunity to watch Lacrosse so I quickly get to channel 3… I am now watching some wierd lacrosse I have never seen before, there are no sticks, there is no grass. There is a wood floor and everyone is pad-less, the ball is bigger and the goals are over their heads… The only thing I recognize is there is this big sign on the middle of the wood field that says NCAA.
Are you telling me that the Marketing of March Madness is now to the point they have to trick people into turning to the channel.
